This place was amazing...Like you, I was astonished. This place was amazing. I was most impressed by how the house and landscape melded together to form this cohesive whole. The house sits on this plate of exposed rock, as one one of your pictures shows, and even has the flat rocks for the front lawn. Quite unusual, not something you see everyday.<br /><br />Not sure if you noticed a poster of the house on the second floor ?? I´d love to have a copy of that, and would have bought one if they were selling some. I believe I told the guide that selling that poster would have been a neat way of raising money for the house.<br /><br />I saw Fairfield H. and MacPherson H. within hours of each other (2 yrs ago) and was quite taken by the difference in the condition of these places. The MacPherson H. was in much better shape, and seemed much more refined. When I stepped into the Fairfield H. right after that, I was surprised at how raw it seemed (but in a good way). Like you, I enjoy time travel, and it was so easy at Fairfield H. to imagine life at the end of the 18th c. by the lake.Marknoreply@blogger.com
